Top 10 holiday destinations

Sometimes, deciding where to go on holiday can be one of the hardest decisions to make. Once you know where you want to go, it can become a little bit easier, as you can start planning your trip and what you will do once you are out there. We have put together ten of the most popular places to visit in the world to help you out when it comes to deciding where you will travel to.

1) Spain

Spain has long been a popular destination for travellers, and it is only right that it is featured on our list. Whether you are travelling alone, with your family, or with your partner, it can make the perfect holiday destination. There is so much to do in this beautiful country, whether you take your family to Mallorca, have an Ibiza holiday with your friends, or have a romantic break in the Canary Islands. It is a brilliant place to go if you are on a budget as many airlines will offer cheap flights. There is so much to see and do as well, whether you are staying for a weekend or for two weeks. The perfect location if you are looking for somewhere warm, without having to travel too far.

2) France

For similar reasons to Spain, France is another popular holiday destination. It really does have so much to offer. Paris offers the hustle and bustle and tourist attractions of a busy city, whereas the south of France offers the sunshine and warmth that will make you feel like you are a million miles away from home. Travelling to France could not be easier as well, with direct routes from the South of England. As a country, France really does have so much to offer, from skiing in the Alps, to taking in the sights of the cities. It has long been a favourite for couples, with Paris being known as the City of Love; but there is so much for families to do as well. Like Spain, some airlines offer budget flights, and although some areas are more expensive, holidaying in France can be done on a budget.

3) USA

The United States of America has long been a favourite for family holidays. The sheer size of the country suggests just how much it has to offer, and there is somewhere that will suit everyone. America can offer sun, sea and sand, as well as snow, mountains, and busy cities. Travelling to America requires a slightly larger budget than previous featured destinations, as the flight time is longer and there is further to travel. Areas such as Orlando are perfect if you are travelling with children, as you can visit Universal, and Disneyworld; New York is perfect for long weekends spent shopping and seeing the sights; Los Angeles is excellent if you want to experience the local life, and bask in the sunshine, and Colorado is perfect for those seeking an action packed holiday, and is a very popular skiing destination. The above locations do not even scratch the surface of what this wonderful country has to offer, and it is very easy to see why it is such a popular holiday destination.

4)  Portugal

Portugal is a fantastic place to visit regardless of the time of year. It is for its great climate – even in the middle of winter, temperatures rarely fall below five degrees Celsius. You can enjoy blazing hot summers, and as Portugal has the longest number of hours of sunshine in Europe, you can enjoy it for even longer. One of the reasons that Portugal is so popular is the beautiful coastline and beaches that you can explore during your stay. Regardless of who you are travelling with, it is well worth watching the stunning sunset, whilst relaxing on the beach. It truly is something special and will linger forever in your memories. Portugal is also steeped in natural history as well, with trams being a very common form of transport. Take in the awe inspiring views whilst walking down the art filled cobbled streets, and enjoy everything that Portugal has to offer.

In recent years, Thailand has become an incredibly popular destination, particularly with gap year students who choose to go travelling. Whilst many people are attracted to the entertainment side of Thailand, it has a lot more to offer. It is a truly beautiful place to visit, and offers both countryside and beaches. Whilst the capital Bangkok allows you to really experience the local way of life, it is the islands such as Phuket, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan that have become really popular. If you are travelling with your family, it is an excellent way of getting everyone involved in the local culture; trying the food, and getting to know the locals. Although Thailand is notoriously great value when you are out there, flights to your destination can sometimes be a little pricey, and this should be taken into consideration.
