Holiday ideas for February half term

Holiday ideas for February half term

Although your children have only just gone back to school after the Christmas break, the likelihood is that you are already looking forward to the February half term. If you are looking to take your family away during the break, it is not too late to make some last minute bookings. If you are stuck for ideas of where to go, we have just ten destinations to get you started. They vary in budgets and destinations, and we hope there will be a location to suit everyone.

1) Lake District, England

We’ll start close to home. The Lake District in the North West of England is such a beautiful, family friendly location, which is perfect for the half term break away. It is perfect for children of all ages, and there are plenty of fun activities for you to engage in. If you and your family are active, you can actually book specific walking holidays, which feature three different child friendly walks ranging in difficulty and length depending on the age of your children. A brilliant way to spend the half term.

2) Caserio Del Mirador, Eastern Spain

caserio del mirador

If you are looking for something a little quieter and more cultural for you and your family, why not avoid all of the large resorts which are all equipped with kids’ clubs and loud entertainment and go somewhere a little more relaxing. Caserio Del Mirador is a small collection of apartments which are located in rural Eastern Spain, but is a location that will appeal to both children and parents alike. Children can enjoy the pool, sandpit, and tractor, as well as spending time with the resident pets, whilst the parents can enjoy strolls in the Olive garden, before relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. Not only that, but they offer special deals during February.

3) Lanzarote, Canary Islands

If you are quite frankly sick of the cold, wind and rain, and are in need of some heat and sunshine, head to the Canary Islands. Lanzarote offers some wonderful family friendly resorts, where you can enjoy swimming in the pool, visiting the sandy beaches, and taking long walks in the open countryside. It is the perfect location if your family like to do different things on holiday, as it caters for everyone. Whether you choose to stay in a hotel, or rent a more rural cottage for you and your family, you will not be disappointed.

4)  Swiss Alps, Switzerland

If you are a sporty family, there is nothing better to do than enjoy a week’s skiing in the beautiful Swiss Alps. Children are fearless a lot of the time and this is the best time for them to try an extreme sport. If they have never been skiing or snowboarding before, why not hire a week tuition for them. Many ski resorts will have specific ski schools dedicated to children, so you know that they are getting the best care and attention. You can hire all equipment if you do not have it from most resorts, and if at any time you do not fancy skiing, you can sample the resorts après ski and just sit back and relax in the mountains.

5) Cornwall, England

If you want to stay closer to home, but have the best shot at seeing the warmer weather, Cornwall is the place to head. With some fantastic deals at many cottages, houses and hotels for the winter break, this half term is the perfect time to visit this beautiful area of England. Whether you want to visit some of England’s most beautiful golden sanded beaches, or try your hand at surfing, there is something for all members of your family to enjoy, no matter how young or old they are.

For such a small island, there is so much to see and do, and is absolutely steeped in history. If you have young children, it is an excellent way to get them used to travelling, but as it takes less than two hours, you are not having to worry about a long travel time. There are some truly amazing and stunning beaches, as well as absolutely beautiful coastlines. What’s more, is it is home to the last remaining Hovercraft service, which is a truly unique experience and well worth trying.

7) Cannes, South of France

Although Cannes is not often thought of as a budget holiday destination, it is the perfect place to visit this February half term. It is full of fun activities for you and your family from mountain biking, treasure hunts, and even circus lessons. You will be surrounded by stunning and relaxing scenery, for you to enjoy – there really is something for everyone in this astonishing location.
